Linen, the main material of Peace Ring (baby sling), which we started in 2001, has been attracting attention for its low environmental impact: compared with cotton, it produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions during cultivation and requires less water.

Recently, an increasing number of famous brands have also stopped using cotton and adopted only linen.

Baby carriers such as baby slings are elaborately made: the fabric is woven in a special way to increase strength, then finished as hand-crumpled linen (temomi asa) by craftsmen of Omi Chijimi in Shiga, which makes them very expensive.

So this time, as the material for the basic line, we adopted a relatively easy-to-handle, simple linen from Belgium, in Europe, which accounts for the majority of linen cultivation.

It is fairly thick, with a nice drape and a smooth, drapey feel.

The Essential Piece

Even if linen wears thin and develops holes after long use, it can be remade into other items and used to the very end. It is a material that is never thrown away.
With repeated washing, it gradually softens and becomes comfortably familiar, as if you were nurturing it.
Wrinkles are part of its character, too.
