We basically suggest customers to choose which shoulder by the shoulder which they always use for putting a shoulder bag. Do you always put your shoulder bag on your left shoulder? If so, please choose a left-shoulder sling. Usually, right-handed people tend to feel comfortable when they put a sling on their left shoulder.
For parents who have a newborn baby whose neck is not stable yet, please think of which arm you always use to place your baby's head when you hold the baby. If you always place the head on your right arm, please choose left-shoulder sling. In cradle position (it's for newborn baby and the position that a baby is in sleeping posture), the head should always be placed at the opposite side of the rings.
For parents who have a baby whose neck is already stable, please think of which arm you always use to hold the baby. If you are used to hold your baby with you right arm, please choose a left-shoulder sling. In nursing position and hip carry position (after baby's head becomes stable), the baby's body is placed at the opposite side of the rings.
What is the difference?
If you purchase a left shoulder sling, but you would like to use it on your right shoulder… don't worry, there is no safety problem. It is possible to use it on the opposite shoulder. You don't need to thread the cloth again. You can just hand it on the shoulder. (Please make sure that the seams of the pouch are always inside.)
The big difference is silhouette to look at. For a left-shoulder sling, when you put the sling on your left shoulder, the edge of the cloth is up on the back and connects to the outer side of pouch part and the cloth line on the back widens layer by layer. When you wear a left-shoulder sling on your right shoulder, the cloth that hangs on the back becomes twisted. [Please see the pictures.] And also, it might be slightly difficult to do fine adjustment.
Please remind again that for cradle position, if you use a left-shoulder sling with your right shoulder, the size of the pouch will get a little smaller, therefore, to keep enough space for a baby in the pouch, please use the sling on your left shoulder. (If it's the right-shoulder sling, wear it on your right shoulder.)
However, as babies gain weight, wearers get to put strain on the shoulder.
Therefore they need to hang the sling on the shoulder which they are used
to. For nursing and hip carry position, please use a sling on your accustomed
shoulder as much as possible.
